Film is a four piece alternative pop-rock band from Athens, Greece, with female voice and experimental sound driven by the bass different style. Film were formed in 2001 in Athens, Greece. With a wide range of influences and a love for experimentation Film started playing defining its personal style from the very first songs. The band's debut album >/:no luggage, was released on June 2003 by Hitch Hyke Music in Greece, with distribution in Switzerland and Germany. >/:no luggage was acclaimed as one of the best debut albums of the year 2003 by the Greek music press. Live performances are where Film's potential is best reflected. With many concerts in Athens and other major cities in Greece, they've built the reputation of one of the best live acts. In 2006 Film signed with EMI Greece. They present their new sound with the second album entitled Angel B, where they merge influences from the dark wave scene of the 80s, pop, post punk and dance music, preserving their own personal style. Angel B can be described as a concept album, where the songs are a cut-up of cinematic scenes. After an extensive tour in 2005 - 2006 in Greece (playing in festivals with New Order, Radio 4, Iggy Pop and the Stooges and more) the band did a mini tour in Europe (UK, Switzerland and Spain). In 2007 line up changed occurred replacing former singer Eleni Tzavara with Ifigenia Atkinson while Dimitris (bass) started to explore his vocal skills more. Recently signed with the upcoming independent label INNER EAR Records Film is currently writing new songs for the follow-up of Angel B to be released in May 2009. Background Information: Played at Terra Vibe Festival with The Cure on September 2005, Athens. Played at Rockwave Festival on June 2004, with Placebo, Starsailor and The Soundtrack of Our Lives (Athens) Brian Molkos personal request to open Placebo gig in Athens on September 2003. Debut album >/:no luggage released on 2003, aacclaimed as on of the best albums of the year. Support band for The Faming Lips and Puressence at the respective 2003 and 2002 Athens gigs. Composed music for theatrical plays and short-films in Athens in 2000. Second album Angel B released on February 2006 by EMI GREECE. Touring since February 2006. Played at Ejekt festival in Athens with New Order, Hooverphonic and Radio 4 on June 2006. First gig in London on July 2006 with Puressence at Carling Academy Islington. Opening act for Iggy Pop and the Stooges gig on July 2006 in Athens. Played Eurosonic, January 2007, Groningen NL Current Activities and Plans: Signed with the upcoming independent label INNER EAR Records. Recording 3rd studio album to be released May 2009.
